The collection

PL / 01
Wide and close-fitting, worked in bands, with a stone-set centre and a single drop below it. Sits high on the throat, under a haram.
PL / 02
Rounded and unornamented, made to be worn every day and not thought about. Photographed being handed across, which is how they are usually chosen.
PL / 03
The pair that gets worn together — the short one at the collarbone, the haram falling to the waist, both in repeating motifs set with red stones.
PL / 04
Tikka, jhumkas, choker, haram and a ring, laid out the way they are laid out on the counter when a family comes in to decide. This is what the shop is actually for.
PL / 05
Pierced round medallions running the length of the chain to a broad pendant. All the work is in the piercing, which is why it wears lighter than it looks.
PL / 06
Gold alternating with turquoise, rose and white beads. Lighter than they look, and the everyday end of the collection rather than the wedding end.
PL / 07
Fine beadwork run in parallel strands, broken at intervals by pink stones. Worn singly, or several at once.
PL / 08
Fanned filigree across the whole chest, with drops hung along the lower edge. This is the piece the shop is remembered for, and the reason cameras were never welcome.
How the shop sorts it
Nobody walks in and asks for a design. They walk in with a number in their head, because weight × the day's rate is the price. So the collection is grouped by weight — and you should ask for it the same way.
Beyond gold there is 92.5 silver — bracelets, chains, wrist charms and idols — and 18K and diamond for lighter, everyday pieces.
What is stamped on it
Three separate things, not one slogan — and any customer can check the last of them without asking anybody's permission.
The front on M.G Road
A customer put it better than we could: “the shop might look a bit smaller when compared to others, but their collection is huge.” The lattice on the front is the only warning you get.
